mpad, Truro

Partner to Succeed first met mpad early in August 2009 when they were commissioned to provide PR for Partner to Succeed’s official launch at the Eden Project. The client relationship switched when Rachel Picken approached the Partner to Succeed team with a particular public sector tender that they were interested in bidding for.

MPAD Case Study“We knew we had the skills to deliver the service required of the tender notification we were reading. Our only doubt was the request for relevant experience in International PR. If we could find a collaborative partner to co-tender with us who could demonstrate such expertise and experience, we would have everything we needed for success. We therefore contacted Partner to Succeed and asked them to help us find such a company. Following intensive research they found us the right partner and helped us through the process.” Rachel Picken, Director, mpad

In a situation common for collaborations, Partner to Succeed first helped mpad identify their particular needs and desires, then carried out detailed desk research to find suitable PR companies they could work with. At this stage, mpad were able to select a potential partner based on objective information.

mpad was established as a PR and design agency by managing director Mark Picken in 1999 with support from the Prince’s Trust. Since then it has developed a strong reputation as one of the leading public relations (PR) companies in Cornwall and one of the most recognisable marketing companies in the South West. Now, the company is harnessing innovative ways of marketing, such as social networking, online and video blogging, and podcasting. The team is also an active part of the community in Cornwall – Mark himself now sits on the Prince’s Trust panel, while PR manager Rachel is the longest-standing committee member of the Hub, Cornwall’s business network for young people and new entrepreneurs.

“Finding the perfect match of skills, experience and ethos in the collaborative partner was an exciting venture,” said Chloe Tealë, Business Analyst & Advisor at Partner to Succeed. “Using a combination of desk and telephone research, I delivered a comprehensive list of companies that met the agreed criteria. Together we then chose a shortlist that would best suit the team at mpad in terms of work ethos and just as importantly, had the right skills to meet the tender requirements.”

After detailed discussion, London PR Agency Citigate Dew Rogerson was selected and approached, and a collaboration was born. Partner to Succeed then continued their support through the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire stage of the tender process and a joint submission was accepted well before the tender deadline ….fingers crossed.
